Week 3 EOC This Charming Man

While watching This Charming Man, we were asked to notice the issues of discrimination. Discrimination is a very large category involving HR departments and has some very serious issues with the workplace. "An employer can no longer seek out preferred individuals based on non-job-related factors such as age, gender, or physical attractiveness. Those that do so may be confronted with significant legal problems." Many companies nowadays have policies for discrimination acts and have the access to legal help. During the short film, I picked up on many racial slurs and sexual discriminations. The film was based in Denmark and the have been having issues with immigrants trying to find jobs. The men in the film, in particular called the Pakistanis rude, insensitive names and workers and the hiring companies thought of them to be on the bottom of the totem pole. "With great success, and more customers, however, comes the need to identify, train, and retain even more talented people. These people must be kept happy, focused on excellence, and committed to the organization's goals."  There was even some sexual discriminations when Lars told Ida he didn’t even recognize her because she lost weight and one man called a receptionist “sugar”. Treating people right has everything to do with treating your employee’s right.  "Exceptional hospitality management company leaders are often quoted as saying that “our people are our greatest asset.” These managers are not simply paying lip service to the importance of employees. They know it is true."
